Hello, friends!
Yesterday was my 21st birthday! I am old enough to make a wide variety of questionable purchase decisions in the United States!
As I have for the past few years, I celebrated my birthday at Mountain Friends Camp. It is easy to feel old here. The campers are between the ages of 10 and 15. The youngest counselor is over three years younger than I am. Without my permission or conscious awareness, I can no longer be considered "young staff".
My days have been filed with the chaos that comes from supervising children and teenagers. It is (perhaps surprisingly) difficult to work as a camp counselor. Frustrations and resentments run rampant, but spending time at camp is always one of my year's greatest joys. I am glad to be here, with a kind group of people, in a place that feels like home. I never expected that I would make it this far, but I'm excited to see how much further I will go.
Best wishes,
Lydia
