Blogging Every Day in August: A Directory of 30 Posts

Hello!

I hope that you are all doing well! This month, I set out to write a blog post every day, and, if you are reading this blog post, I have succeeded in that goal.

I imagine that future blog readers will not want to sort through 31 days worth of consecutive blog posts in order to figure out which content might be most interesting to them. So, hopefully, this post can act as a launchpad, and allow you to explore whichever blog posts from this month might capture your interests.

Here is a roundup of this month's blog posts. I am including a short summary of each blog post, and who I think would enjoy each post.

  • Tarot Reflections from the Yurts of MFC: I include snippets from my daily tarot draws while I was working as a counselor at Mountain Friends Camp. Ideal for people who like tarot, summer camp, or both.
  • Desperately Trying to Hack My Sleep Schedule: I talk about the different methods that I have used to improve my sleep, how well they have worked, and whether I would recommend them or not. Ideal for people who enjoy learning about other people's frustrating attempts to improve their lives.
  • Lines and Rides and Sun: I describe my visit to a waterpark. Ideal for people who want to read a short post that mostly involves a holistic (and somewhat tired) depiction of spending a day at a waterpark.
  • Phoenix Mercury Game: I share about my first Phoenix Mercury Game. Ideal for Mercury fans, or people who want to know how many calories basketball players burn by jumping within 30 minutes of gameplay.
  • Hate-Read with Lydia: A Prequel: I discuss the process of writing up the next day's post. Ideal for people who enjoy anecdotes and extensive descriptions of the blogging process.
  • Media Roundup: August 8, 2019: This blog post is relatively straightforward; I discuss what I was reading, watching, and listening to as of August 8, 2019. Ideal for people who are looking for new media to consume.
  • Another Exhausting AZ Day: I was very exhausted when I wrote this blog post; the result was a short, pictureless post about getting rid of unwanted possessions and going to a Phoenix Mercury Game. Ideal for people who want to learn more about my daily life, without the frills.
  • A Brief Reflection on the Practice of Blogging Daily: I reflect on the past several days of daily blogging, and wonder how I will continue my blog after the 31 days of August are over. Ideal for people who are curious about what my personal blogging experience is like.
  • Adventures in Organization: The Konmari Method: I depict the process of going through the Konmari method. Ideal for people who like watching other people organize their belongings from the comfort of their own non-Konmari-ed home.
  • My Top 5 Favorite Slanted Rays Blog Posts: I create a top 5 list of my own blog posts. Ideal for people who are overwhelmed by the blog post they are currently reading, and would like to have much fewer options.
  • Fallacies and Founding Fathers: I talk about procrastination, and Ron Chernow's Alexander Hamilton. Ideal for people with a vendetta against Jefferson.
  • Wholesome Twists and Home Game Wins: I share my favorite wholesome twists from Jane the Virgin, and briefly discuss the Mercury game. Ideal for people who have finished watching Jane the Virgin.
  • What's Going Well: I dash off a few positive notes from my day. Ideal for people who want to use a very short period of time to read a happy blog post.
  • Media Roundup: August 21, 2019: Another roundup of content I read, watched, or listened to. Ideal for people who want to learn more about my media consumption habits.
  • 10 Parts of Studying Abroad in Paris that I Still Miss: A short blog post about what I miss about Paris. Ideal for people who are considering studying abroad in Paris themselves, or people who want to watch me struggle to come up with 10 definable things that I enjoyed.
  • Adventures in Tourism: Versailles: I discuss my visit to Versailles on my last full day of Paris. Ideal for people who miss when this blog was entirely about my study abroad experience.
  • Baby's First Bullet Journal: I go through my very first bullet journal, and comment on my bullet journal mishaps and successes. Ideal for people who bullet journal, or who watch bullet journal flip-through videos on YouTube.
  • Reviewing My August 2019 Goals: I review the goals I made for August, and discuss which I achieved, which are still in progress, and which goals are incomplete. Ideal for people who enjoy list-based, organization-related posts.
  • Finished Work and Fresh Off the Boat: I write a little about finishing my post-camp administrative work, and a lot about how poorly the ABC adaptation of Fresh Off the Boat measures up to the original book. Ideal for people who would like to listen to me complain about television.
Best wishes,
Lydia

The Grouchiest Blog Post

Hello! This post is literally just Grumpy Lydia complaining. If that sounds miserable, congratulations! You have my full permission to click away now. If that sounds like something you wouldn't mind reading, please enjoy and/or suffer through this list of Lydia's Miseries. I was on vacation in Italy all last week, which means that there are many lingering tasks that have not been completed. My flight was delayed on Monday, which means that I missed class, which has led to me being even more behind.  Housing selection was yesterday, and I am trying to force myself to come to terms with the fact that I'm pretty much definitely going to be living alone next year, which will contribute to my depression next year and makes me feel lonely in the present. There are just, like, a lot of lingering thoughts that I cannot find the words to write about.  It is cold and wet and sad outside, which means that a Self-Imposed Walk to Help With Lingering Sadness would probably jus

Friends, I'm Trying to Keep In Touch

Hello, friends! I feel like the only thing worse than spending 85% of your life on social media is talking constantly about the fact that you are no longer spending 85% of your life on social media. However, I must explain that, since deciding to take a break from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, I have realized that those platforms allowed me to have a sense of social connection without much actual social connection. It is easy to feel connected to someone when you see the mundane details of their existence on Instagram Stories, watch them have mental breakdowns on Twitter, and read the articles they share on Facebook. Without those sources of information on my friends' lives, I began to realize that I hadn't actually been talking to that many people. Despite interacting with friends on Twitter, responding to their Instagram stories, and participating in conversations in Soka's sketch comedy club's group chat, I wasn't spending much time cultivating my friendship

Reviewing My August 2019 Goals

This is an image of my desk during Fall Semester 2018. On the right side of the photo, there is a vintage Singer sewing machine which, unfortunately, does not work. To the left of the sewing machine, there is a crate books inside. On top of the crate, there is a stack of Rookie Yearbooks with a crocheted jellyfish (wearing glasses) on top of it, and a picture frame containing a print that reads "all the time". To the left of the crate, there are a few more books. In lieu of a proper bookend, I have placed a tarot deck (stored in a black makeup bag) and a book-themed Halloween decoration (featuring book spines with the words "Potions", "Hexes", and "Spells") to keep my books from toppling over. I chose this photograph because, unlike my current desk, this desk looks like it belongs to someone who creates monthly goals. Hello! At the start of this month, I made a list of goals. As September 1 draws near, I am l
